Public Education

LCWC provides public education opportunities to groups and individuals to learn about 9-1-1 and emergency response.

Presentations or Event Participation
Our public education staff can provide displays, presentations, hand-outs and a 9-1-1 call simulator for your group or public event. If your event is outdoors, LCWC can bring the Field Communications Unit to set up and tour.

Communications Center Tours
Tours of LCWC's dispatch facility can be arranged for groups including schools, boy scouts, emergency services and any other community group. One of LCWC's dispatchers will provide an overview of dispatch operations and a guided tour of the communications center.

Individuals that are interested in a more in-depth experience can request to sit in the communications center as a observer. Observers are paired with an experienced dispatcher and are able to see first-hand how emergency calls are processed. Observers must be 18 years of age and submit to a background check prior to scheduling their time.

For more information or to schedule your tour or event, please contact our administrative
staff at 717-664-1100. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
